Legendarypoet William Wordsworth once describedthe poet as “a man talking to men”. In KC Wilder‘s uniquely frantic, fauxbrow universe, common worldviews and inclinations take a back seat.
KC Wilder‘s art is often a little off-putting, centered on a loss of centrality itself, as evidenced in this passage from “#45: doggedly resolved”: chewing himself out, in a tailspin everyday … doting on a well-worn bag of bones inside a doghouse! sitting up on slipshod grates contemplating dog-eared rage, the many treats he’s been denied …
KC Wilder‘s attitude furthers a pop-culture informed argot. Stylistically, his craft can be approximately described as Jackson Pollock meets ee cummings, with touches of
Pablo Neruda, W.S. Merwin, and John Berryman.
KC Wilder‘s talents and ventures in (and out of) the arts cover a wide area – man of letters, collagist, singer, web technician, videographer, first amendment activist, photo producer, naturalist, and a one-time U.S. AAU-national champion athlete. He has appeared before stadium-sized crowds with a 40-piece classical orchestra as a baritone soloist, and has roamed widely throughout the states as a singer and songwriter. In the 90s he was widely known in the zine and mail art worlds for producing a groundbreaking music zine as well as dozens of literary magazines, including noteworthy indy award-winners.
There’s a sometimes wacky, sometimes humorous, anomalous way about Wilder’s writing. It’s whimsical and powerful.
Wilder offersan indy compact disc of humorous poetry on bewilderama records. A trained musician as well as poet, Wilder picks guitar on some of these anthems in addition to working humorous poetry in collusion with the amazing Acme Rocket Quartet.
